North Pond 365/360

"A picture is worth a thousand words...". As a "North-ponder" armed with a camera, I think I am among the people who have photographed the North Pond the most. I have been living in the Lincoln Park, Lakeview and North Pond area for the past twenty years. And every week or so I take a stride around the Pond and photograph anything that I find interesting: the views of the pond, the geese, the turtles, the squirrels... the people, all year round. What a paradox that the remedy to the pandemic is to remain separated. This is an anti-pattern of the human condition and the society as a whole.

As soon as the confinement was lifted people congregated in the space around the North Pond as if to celebrate life. Seeing other humans around never felt so good again. Even for those among us who ordinarily would prefer to live on a desert island came out. And if they didn't settle in the park on a caping blanketto chat with friends they would hang their hamock and hide inside it, or they just passed thru. It was not enough to be alive, it felt great to be seen alive, even if no one knows you...
